Rigging and Machine Moving
With the support of our 800-ton hydraulic gantry system, six crane-trucks, low-bed transporter and fleet of forklifts, Northfield Engineering is able to tackle all-manner of heavy-moving assignment. Northfield Engineering has proudly established itself as a market-leader in the Eastern Cape when it comes to heavy machine moving and rigging.
This service was recently expanded to the Western Cape, having registered Northfield Engineering Western Cape (PTY) Ltd as a totally new and separate entity.
Northfield Engineering’s rigging and machine moving division has a proven track record when it comes to transporting, off-loading and rigging in a wide range of industrial equipment. This includes CNC Machines, Injection Moulding Machines and Laser Cutters, amongst many other items of equipment.
Large tanks for the likes of the pharmaceutical and beverage sector generally need to be transported on our abnormal load low-bed transporter and then top and tailed into position. A tandem-lift, involving two crane-trucks, is often used during this process.
Our rigging division is regularly called on to assist our Municipal division. Its core focus is the equipping, servicing and repairing of pump stations and waste water treatment works across the Eastern and Western Cape. We also support our Agri division, particularly around the rigging in of bulk milk cooling tanks and feed silos on the dairy farms they service.
Northfield Engineering’s fleet of crane trucks are equipped with powerful knuckle boom cranes, ideal for lifting, loading, and transporting heavy or oversized equipment. Backed by skilled rigging teams, we provide reliable turnkey solutions for projects across the industrial, municipal, agricultural and construction sectors.
With specialized equipment, Northfield Engineering can safely handle extreme lifting requirements. From large transformers to plant machinery, we deliver precision, strength, and safety on every project.
With the responsibility of handling and placing
multi-million-rand items of equipment, Northfield Engineering realised the need
for responsible personnel with a strong sense of attention to detail. Their skill set includes rigging, crane
operation, crane truck driving, machine assembly and stripping.
The most powerful crane-truck in the Northfield Engineering fleet is a UD Quester 440 twin steer armed with the largest Fassi knuckle boom crane supplied by Italian manufacturer Fassi in Southern Africa. The knuckle-boom crane is a fully remotely controlled FASSI F 1150 RA 2.28 XHE and is rated at 115 ton/meter.
The FASSI F 1150 has a lifting capacity of 22 tons. It has 8 extensions on the main crane which boasts a reach of 19.7 m at which range it can still lift 4 tons. There are 6 extensions on the fly jib which increases the crane’s reach to an impressive 36 m vertically and 31.5 m horizontally. At a height of 36 metres it can lift 675 kg’s and at a distance of 31.5 m it can still lift 845 kg’s.
To date, the support from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape business community, in particular, has been phenomenal and shows that local, professional and competitive service is still highly valued.
